Radiography
We have Xray facilities at both small animal surgeries. Xrays are extensively used at the practice as they are an easy way to examine large areas of the patient non-invasively and can provide a large amount of information, whether it is suspected broken bone or a diseased internal organ.
Digital xray facilities were installed at the Hagley surgery during summer 2010, images are captured on a digital film (a bit like a digital camera) providing better quality picture in a vastly shorter time. The images can then be viewed on a monitor and manipulated by the computer software to develop clearer and more accurate images.
Although the Bromsgrove surgery does not have digital xray facilities at the present time, it does have an automatic processing machine for a rapid developing of conventional xrays.
We routinely undertake xrays for hip and elbow scoring as part of the BVA Health Schemes for certain dog breeds.
